Making good on the claim that the Alfa Romeo 1900 was the "family car that wins races", in 1954 the marque released a new, more potent version of the model. The engine bore was increased by two millimetres, upping displacement to 1,975 cc, and twin-Solex carburettors were installed, all resulting in the new Super Sprint Coupé producing 115.
